Where Did It Go?

I am talking about the time, of course. I didn't realize it had been so long since I had posted. But after checking the blog today, I see that has been a while.

Things have been pretty busy, we are finally having church in our new building. And that has been a real blessing. The fire department was great but it is wonderful to have a building that is ours and has tons of room to spread out and grow in.

Hopefully, things are working out with my treatments. I will have one on Tuesday afternoon. It is not the enzyme that I use to get, but a new still experimental drug. I am a little nervous about that, but I am getting to the point that I am just about willing to try anything. I am getting very fatigued and my hips are starting to ache. It makes me realize how much things have changed for me since I started treatments about 9 years ago.

Over the holiday we went back to the apple orchard that we discovered last year and they were running the same special as they did last year. Pick 1/2 bushel and get another 1/2 free. So for $17.50 we got a bushel of apples. I intend to make more pie filling than I did last year as we ran out of apple pie filling sooner than I would have liked. But I won't get to that until the weekend after next.

I have started decorating for fall and as I said before I really am looking forward to it. It's just too bad that it's followed by winter. We went to the commissary on Friday and bought some of the things that I thought I was only going to be able to get when we went down to Georgia. Mary B's Open Kettle Dumplings and House of Autry Chicken Breader. The dumplings make some of the best chicken and dumplings that can be made without getting out the old rolling pin and making a big mess. It makes it easy to make chicken & dumplings and takes a lot less time. The chicken breader, I use to make chicken nuggets. I don't use it to make fried chicken, but it really does make good chicken nuggets and it's pretty good on fried pork chops. For the chicken nuggets, I buy whole, skinless chicken breast and cut into bite size pieces, I salt them and use garlic pepper on them instead of regular pepper. Then drop into hot oil and fry until golden brown. They are better than any restaurant nuggets out there.

Have a great day and enjoy the fall.

  1. I need to get your recipe for apple pie filling. We us House Autry brand too. Our store stopped selling the hushpuppy mix flavored with onions. Years ago, Mike's mama would make fritters with that mix.

Anywho, Are the nights getting cooler in your area? They are here. I just hope a mild winter is ahead.

I'll bet your entire congregation is celebrating the new church.

I hope your new treatments go well for you. I'm sure the experimental aspect is scary but I think they'd only use it if it is suppose to be 100% safe for you. I'll sure be praying for you Miss Mae :)

    Love,
