Purex with Zout Giveaway

I have 2 coupons for a free bottle of Purex with Zout that I will be giving away to 2 lucky winners.
Purex with Zout can be used in any machine, including HE machines. I have used it and love it. It smells really good and cleans really well. It can be used as both a pre-treater and a detergent. I like that it saves me money, cause I don't have to buy a pre-treater. I don't have an HE machine so I can't tell you how it would work in one, but I don't think you will be disappointed with the product.

To enter:
1. Sign up to follow my blog by clicking on the follow button on the right sidebar.
Or
2. Leave a comment on the post explaining what you are doing to cut back on expenses.

I will choose 2 winners from all who enter. I will announce the winners on May 1. The winners will then need to e-mail me their addresses in order for me to mail them the coupons.

Good luck!

Work Ethics

We all have a work ethic, the question is, is yours good or not. Wikipedia describes work ethic as: Work ethic is a set of values based on hard work and diligence. It is also a belief in the moral benefit of work and its ability to enhance character.

I really don't know what makes one person have a good work ethic and another not. To me having good work ethic is important. We, as Christians, should work as if we are working for the Lord. Would the Lord have me do my work in a haphazard manner, be disrespectful to my superiors, try to get out of doing work, or not take responsibility for the work I should or could be doing?

I don't know what it takes to gain a good work ethic. I know both of my children have really good ones, so maybe even if I don't know how you get it, I do get some credit for instilling it in my children. I think I have a good work ethic, but don't we all think that of ourselves?

It does seem to me that there is little of it being encouraged anymore. People who don't seem to deserve it, gets the pat on the back. We have a work basket at our office that all of the secretaries work from and sometimes, it's almost comical to see how people avoid it.

It is really hard when you have a good work ethic to work with people who do not. Everyone I know struggles with this. My husband read a quote to his Sunday School class from a book he is reading on work relationships and the quote is "Lord help me love those who sin differently, than I do." That is a remarkable quote. That means that just because I have a good work ethic, I'm no better than they are, just different.

I am even being convicted as I write this blog, because I am at work. All of my work is done, I am totally caught up, and trying to think of work to keep me busy. Where I work it is either feast or famine. For the next couple of days I am in the Famine stage and will have to make up work to do.

All I can do is continue to try to improve my work ethics, and try not to worry about others' work ethics. Maybe I can be successful,

Daddy's Cake

Once when I was either 5 or 6, (it had to be around that cause we lived in Toombs County then), daddy wasn't feeling well so he stayed home while all the rest of us went to work in tobacco for the day.

At that time, I don't know if I knew that my daddy even knew how to cook, but when we got home he had made dinner (lunch, if you're from up north) for all of us. I don't really remember what the meal was, but I do remember that it was really good. We all enjoyed it. Until he brought out the cake for dessert.

It was the most beautiful cake I'd ever seen. It was just a plain layer cake, no icing, just cake. I know all our mouths had to water to look at it, mine sure did. We didn't get sweets often so we were really excited about this cake.

I can't even remember if we could even cut it. As beautiful as it was, I'd swear it was made out of rubber. If you had thrown it against one wall it would have bounced all the way to the other wall, and it probably would have still been bouncing today. I can't for the life of me figure out what he did to that cake.

He took a lot of teasing over the years about that cake. But as much as we teased him about the cake, we praised him for his Brunswick Stew. He could make some killer Brunswick Stew. And I think he laughed about the cake as much as anyone did. He had a wonderful sense of humor.

He was one of the greatest treasures in my life.
