Changes

We all go through changes in our lives. Some are good, some not so good. I remember when we moved to Kentucky in 2003 it was such an exciting adventure. Our son was already living here and he got married in Florida a couple of weeks before we moved up. Our daughter was moving up with us. The whole immediate family would be close.  Then a few years later our son and his wife moved back to Florida.  That was a sad day for us. Now they are moving back.  Needless to say, we are EXCITED! We will be going down later this week to help them move back up. I am looking forward to a little bit of that good ole Florida sunshine & warmth.

We are also about to embark on a new adventure. We are going to raise some meat chickens.  We have been raising chickens for about 7 years now, but only for eggs. We will start with about 25 chickens to test the costs of raising them, how much work is involved, etc.  Our plan is to eventually be able to sell the chickens. But right now the processors are quite a ways from us.  So the gas to take the chickens for processing will have to be figured into the cost. Kentucky does not allow you to sell meat that you process on your own farm.

We will also be ordering more bees in the near future, to try to get our hive established again. And we will be adding another hive. We will also order marked queens because they are really hard to find, otherwise.

The money challenge is still going pretty well. I am over half way through the 52 weeks at this point.

I haven't tried a new recipe for a while but will post one soon with a review.

Have a great day!
Mae
